Defending Class AA champion West Allegheny hockey team eliminated from playoff chase
With 11 seniors having graduated, this season was expected to be a rebuilding year for West Allegheny.
And with a 4-1 loss to Hampton Monday, the Indians were officially eliminated from playoff contention.
West Allegheny is 5-11-2 with one game left after going 18-3 last season. It did look like the Indians would have a good chance at playing in the postseason after they won three of four games in mid-January, but they have scored a combined five goals in four straight losses since.
