Boys Tennis: Thomas Jefferson relying on youth

Written by Keith Barnes on .

Thomas Jefferson has been a regular participant in the WPIAL Class 2A team tennis playoffs, but for the Jaguars to make it this year, they'll need help from a lot of young players.

For the first time in a while, Thomas Jefferson will have a freshman playing at No. 1 singles as Yash Meshawara takes over the top spot, while sophomore Ryan O'Leary is in at the No. 2 slot. Senior Todd Hendrick is the only upperclassman playing singles and he's in at No. 3.

Doubles player Luke Pilarski is the only other senior in the starting lineup.

With only three matches remaining, Thomas Jefferson should have an easy time locking up one of the four playoff spots. The Jaguars will take on Greensburg Salem on Friday before concluding their section slate with Southmoreland on Monday and West Mifflin on Wednesday.
