Steel Valley boys' basketball team on hot streak

Written by Brad Everett on .

Having made the move to Class AAA after finishing 9-9 in Class AA last season, the amount of success Steel Valley would have this season was questionable.

So far, any questions have been answered in a positive way.

Steel Valley is 6-2 overall and one of three unbeaten teams in Section 4 play (the others being West Mifflin and Thomas Jefferson).

The Ironmen enter this week’s play on a five-game winning streak after snatching a pair of victories in the Charleroi tournament. Prior to those wins, the Ironmen triumphed against section opponents Elizabeth Forward, Ringgold and Belle Vernon.

The Ironmen, coach by Shawn McCallister, lead the section in scoring with 64.6 points per game. They are led by junior guards Ajan Smith and Dorian Broadwater, and sophomore center Tyler Lewis.

Next up for the Ironmen are non-section home games against Hollidaysburg and South Allegheny on Thursday and Friday.
