South teams still alive (2): Upper St. Clair and McKeesport

Upper St. Clair (20-3) vs. Seneca Valley (16-7), 3 p.m., Saturday, at North Allegheny – No. 4 seed Upper St. Clair squeaked by Norwin, 57-56, in the first round, while No. 12 Seneca Valley upset No. 5 Central Catholic, 72-41.

Hampton (19-4) vs. McKeesport (15-7), Noon, Saturday, at North Allegheny – The No. 11 seeded Tigers knocked off No. 6 Bethel Park, 58-54, in overtime in the opening round. No. 3 Hampton edged Mt. Lebanon, 53-48.

Here are some of the top games of the week.

Monday – Chartiers Valley at Bethel Park, 7:30 p.m. – When these teams met on Jan. 10, Bethel Park’s Harper Zimmer hit the winning basket with 15 seconds left to give the Black Hawks a 37-36 victory. Both teams have been excellent throughout the season and are in a heated battle – along with Mt. Lebanon – to win the Class AAAA Section 4 championship.
