South Fayette girls' swimming team duo break records at West Allegheny meet

South Fayette teammates Maddie Bartrug and Morgan Fink had a record-breaking day at the West Allegheny Christmas Invitational.

Bartrug sent a meet record in the 100-yard freestyle by swimming a 53.74, blowing out the rest of the field by over three seconds. The next highest finisher was Indiana senior Abbey O’Neal who swam a 56.94. Earlier in the meet Bartrug also won the 100 butterfly.

Not to be outdone Fink set a meet record with a dominating performance in the 100 backstroke, swimming a 59.84, over five seconds faster than second place which belonged to Blackhawk senior Alaina Marshall, 1:05.23.

Bartrug and Fink accounted for two of the four girls records that were broke at the meet while Lauren Barber of District 10 Wilmington set meet records in the 100 breaststroke and 200 freestyle.
