Hockey: Serra Catholic getting hot at the right time

Written by Keith Barnes on .

Serra Catholic struggled out of the gate early in the season, but the team might be putting something together for a stretch run to the playoffs.

Not only has the team cobbled together a four-game winning streak, one of the Eagles (8-6-1) victories was against a Kiski Area team that has been at or near the top of the Class 1A East Division standings throughout the season.

One of the major reasons for the turnaround has been the play of all-star Matthew Ulishney, who has six goals and nine points in the four games including a hat trick in a victory over Gateway.

Serra Catholic will get a true test its next time out, however, as the Eagles will take on second-place Indiana on Feb. 9.
