Hockey: Ritchie helps keep Serra Catholic unbeaten

Written by Ryan Riordan on .

Ian Ritchie has gotten plenty of work in net for Serra Catholic in the early part of the season.

In his last two starts in net, Ritchie has faced 94 shots. But the junior netminder has stopped 89 of the shots to earn a win against Deer Lakes and a tie against Thomas Jefferson earlier this week.

Ritchie also got a win in the season opener against Bishop McCort.

For the season, Ritchie 110 of 117 shots (.940 save percentage) and has a 2.22 goals-against average. He led Class A in saves and save percentage entering play on Wednesday.

The Eagles (3-0-1) are one of just two PIHL Class A teams, along with Quaker Valley, to not lose a game yet this season. Serra Catholic will play the Quakers in its next game on Monday night at 7:30 at Airport Ice Arena.
