Written by Brad Everett on .

Seneca Valley has lost only three section games this season. Tonight, the Raiders face the team who handed them one of those defeats.

Winners of nine of its past 10 games, Class AAAA No. 3 Seneca Valley hits the road to take on No. 1 New Castle in a key Section 3 game. New Castle (17-0) has a 10-0 record in section play and is the lone undefeated team in the WPIAL. Seneca Valley (14-4) is 7-3 in the section.

When these teams met on Jan. 4, New Castle’s Shawn Anderson scored 31 points to lead the visiting Red Hurricane to a 79-45 victory.

The loss was Seneca Valley’s second straight in the section, but the Raiders have since won all but one of their six section games.

Sunday, the Raiders defeated Class A No. 1 Lincoln Park, 66-64, in overtime in the Pittsburgh Basketball Club Classic at La Roche University. Easton Bazzoli made two free throws with five seconds left give the Raiders the victory.

New Castle is averaging a Class AAAA-best 81.1 points and allowing 51.2. Seneca Valley averages 56.9 points and gives up 49.2.
