Baseball: Rochester duo commits to La Roche

Written by Drew Karpen on .

Rochester’s Tyler Vargon and Lucas Mansueti has served as a formidable one-two punch for the Rams this year. The Rams sit in first place in Class 1A Section 3 with a 7-4 overall record and perfect 7-0 mark in the section.

They have one seven of their last eight games, due in large part to their pitching. Through April 16, Vargon and Mansueti has led the Rams pitching staff. Vargon has recorded 22 strikeouts and Mansueti is right behind him with 20.

Vargon is also the offensive leader. The senior pitcher-outfielder was hitting .500 through games played by April 16.

Now they will both bring their talents to La Roche College next year. The Redhawks are a local and national powerhouse, currently ranked 13th in the country in the D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25 poll. They advanced to their first College World Series last year in Appleton, WI., and are in prime position to get back there.

The Redhawks are currently 27-7 and 12-0 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.
