Pine-Richland softball team sprints to top of Section 3

Written by Nick Tolomeo on .

In the preseason it appeared as Section 3 might be a two horse race between defending section champion Shaler, and the up and coming North Allegheny Tigers. Two weeks into section play and it looks like it might still be a two horse race but the horses appear to be Shaler (4-0) and Pine-Richland (4-0).

Both have swept their four section games and are well ahead in the standings above North Allegheny (1-1), Fox Chapel (1-2) and North Hills (1-3).

The Rams own section wins against Butler and Seneca Valley at home and Fox Chapel and North Hills on the road. In their win over Seneca Valley on Friday, junior outfielder Madison Steinkirchner went 2 for 3 with an RBI.

A big section test looms for Pine-Richland on Monday when it visits North Allegheny.
