Former Pine-Richland star Brandon Saad scored his first career NHL goal Tuesday for Chicago in the Blackhawks’ 5-3 win against San Jose.

Saad played one season with the Rams, scoring a hat trick to lead the Rams to a PIHL Class AAA title as a freshman in 2008.

After that he went to Ontario Hockey League and also spent time on the U.S. Hockey National Team Development Program.

In 2011, he was drafted in the second round (43rd overall pick) by the Blackhawks.

Saad made his NHL debut last season and tallied one assist in two games.

His first goal Tuesday came in the first period against the Sharks’ Antti Niemi.
