Boys Golf: Peters Township claims Tri-County Class AAA title

Written by Joe Koch on .

Peters Township High's boys golf team began its season with a solid victory at the Tri-County Athletic Directors Association's Championship this past Friday at Village Green Golf Course in Hickory.

Six Indians' golfers were among the top eight finishers with senior Ben Morgret leading the charge with a 3-over-par round of 74 to place second. Teammates Connor Schmidt (75), Alec Stopperich (76), Tanner Johnson (76), Brian Livolsi (80) and Jake Sollon (80) followed. There's plenty of youth on the Indians' team as Stopperich, Schmidt and Solon are juniors while Johnson is a sophomore. Livolsi, who played as an individual, also is a sophomore.

Peters Township won the Class AAA team title with 381 strokes. Canon McMillan -- led by standout Lauren Waller -- was second with 423, while Trinity (424) and Ringgold (493) rounded out the field.

Waller, one of the top female golfers in Pennsylvania, plays on the Canon-McMillan boys team as there is no girls golf team at Canon-McMillan. The senior finished in a three-way tie for fourth with Stopperich and Johnson with a 5-over-par round of 76.
