Swimming: Peters Township comes up with triumph against West Allegheny

Class AAA Peters Township dropped down in class to compete against one of the top Class AA boys teams around in a battle of the Indians. The Peters Township Indians defeated the West Allegheny Indians 98-77 in a competitive dual meet on December 20. Peters Township took a commanding early lead with a 1-2 finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The relay team of Connor Martin, Tyler Phillips, Michael Kehm and Joe Dunleavy took first place just ahead of their teammates, Harrison Nix, John Martin, Mark Mizikar and Ian O'Brien.

Peters Township flexed their muscles further in individual events with Sebastian Yocca winning the 200 freestyle and Adam Harsch winning the 200 IM. Harsch and O'Brien finished 1-2 in the 50 freestyle, Kehm and Harsch took 1-2 in the 100 butterfly and Peters Township divers Tommy Devine, Gage Fremer and Xander Browell swept the top three spots in the 1 meter diving while Martin, Joe Dunleavy and Josh Dunleavy swept the top three spots in the 100 freestyle.

Peters Township's Mitchell Golias won the 500 freestyle in a competitive dual with West Allegheny's Ashton Pietroboni. Golias edged Pietroboni by 0.11 seconds, an extremely slim margin in the longest race in high school swimming. Golias swam a 5:19.00 while Pietroboni swam a 5:19.11.

Harsh, O'Brien, Kehm and Golias put an exclamation point on the meet with a winning time of 1:40.49 in the 200 freestyle relay.
