It's been a breakthrough summer for Peters Township native Alison Riske.

Earlier this week, she reached another new plateau.

Riske moved into the Top 100 of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings for the first time in her career. She is ranked No. 96 in the world. Riske is the No. 11 ranked player from the United States, a group headed by overall No. 1 Serena Williams.

Riske, 23, experienced one of the biggest moments of her professional career last month when she made it to the third round of Wimbledon. Her first-round victory against Switzerland's Romina Oprandi was her first ever Grand Slam win.

Riske turned pro after winning the WPIAL and PIAA Class AAA singles championships for Peters Township in 2006. It was her only season competing in high school.
