Led by the experienced trio of Dan Pletz, Kyle Higgins and Chris Buzard, the Peters Township boys’ swim team totaled 100 points on Monday in a dual meet against Class AA power South Fayette who finished with 86.
Pletz, Buzard and Higgins were paired together on the 200-yard medley relay along with anchor Jason Lee. The relay finished first with a WPIAL qualifying cut of 1:43.05 to set the tone for the night.
Buzard won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:04.69, edging South Fayette’s Tim Bernhardt (2:06.60). Higgins won the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.35. The foursome of Higgins, Pletz, Lee and Buzard reunited to win the 200 freestyle relay.
Peters Township showcased its depth in the meet beyond just Pletz, Buzard and Higgins. The Indians swept the first three spots in the 50 freestyle thanks to Joe Dunleavy (24.06), Adam Harsch (24.31) and Connor Martin (24.39). Sebastian Yocco and Martin finished 1-2 in the 100 butterfly.
