Football: Perry hires Wright as its new football coach

Written by Brad Everett on .

Perry has named its new football coach.

Ken Wright confirmed this afternoon that he will take over the head coaching duties at Perry. Wright, the former head coach at Langley, replaces Bill Gallagher, who resigned in February.

Wright was the head coach at Langley for five seasons before the school closed after the 2011-12 school year. In 2008, Wright led Langley to its first City League playoff appearance in 20 years.

Wright will have some big shoes to fill. In 13 seasons, Gallagher guided Perry to seven City League championships, including five in a row from 2001-05. His career record was 113-41.

Gallagher told the Post-Gazette in February that a big reason for his resignation was to spend more time with his children after his wife, Nancy, passed away in November.
