Penn-Trafford hockey team needs points in final three games

Penn-Trafford needed a third-period goal from Jonah Graffius to tie Hempfield, 2-2, Monday.

While the Warriors really could have used two points against the one-win Spartans, the tie did move them within one point of Mt. Lebanon for the final playoff spot in Class AAA.

The Warriors have three games remaining — at State College, at Shaler and home against Butler.

All three teams are .500 or better this season and are a combined 3-0 against the Warriors this season.

Penn-Trafford will need at least two points and possibly more to overtake Mt. Lebanon, depending on how the Blue Devils’ final four games play out.

Mt. Lebanon has an easier final schedule, with two of their games coming against winless McDowell and one-win Hempfield. The other two are difficult matchups against Butler and Seneca Valley.
