Track: Penn Hills track standout picks a college

Written by Brad Everett on .

Speed has been the name of the game for Isaiah Bailey, one of the WPIAL's top middle distance runners the last few years.

But when it came to picking a college, Bailey took his time.

A month after graduating from Penn Hills, Bailey announced earlier this week that he will be attending Mount Union. The Alliance, Ohio school is about two hours away from Penn Hills and is probably best known -- at least athletically -- for having a big-time Division III football program.

Bailey took to Twitter to announce his intentions.

"I am proud to say I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at University of Mount Union!!!" -- @track4life800

Bailey had an outstanding track career at Penn Hills. He won silver medals in the 800-meter run at the WPIAL Class 3A championships in both his junior and senior seasons. Also as a junior, he ran a leg on the Indians' 1,600 relay team that won a gold medal.
