Obama Academy sophomore Dorian Jackson was unquestionably a huge longshot to contend for a medal in last weekend's PIAA Class 3A championships at Shippensburg University.
Of the 26 runners competing in the 100-meter dash, Jackson was the 26th and final seed.
That's where Jackson ended up, as well.
Jackson was not able to continue his momentum from the City League championships, where he won gold medals in the 100 and 200. Jackson ran in last Friday's preliminaries, but his time of 11.67 caused him to finish seventh among the seven runners in his heat. He ran the slowest time of anyone in any of the four preliminary heats.
The event was ultimately won by Meadville senior Journey Brown, a Penn State football recruit who set a PIAA record after running a time of 10.43.
