Obama Academy's D.J. Porter was the top player in the City League this season.

Friday, he was picked as one of the best in the state.

Porter, a senior guard/forward, was selected to the Associated Press Class AAAA all-state third-team. Sports writers from throughout the state picked the squad. Porter was the only City League player recognized.

The honor was another impressive accolade bestowed upon Porter, whose excellent season saw him average 22.4 points per game. Obama lost only one game, that coming in the City League championship.

Four WPIAL players joined Porter on the Class AAAA team. Hampton's Ryan Luther was picked to the first team and was named Player of the Year. New Castle's Malik Hooker made the first team and teammate Anthony Richards the second team. Hempfield's Kason Harrell earned third-team honors.

Porter's high school career is not over quite yet. He'll participate in the Roundball Classic at Geneva College on April 12.
