Boys Basketball: Obama's Porter to play in Roundball Classic

Obama Academy's D.J. Porter had an outstanding high school career.

On Apr. 12, Porter will showcase his talents when he plays in a highly-regarded all-star event.

Porter, a senior guard/forward, was picked to participate in the Roundball Classic, which will be held at Geneva College.

Porter will play for the Class A/City League/Prep all-stars, who will take on the Class AAAA all-stars. Tip is set for 8 p.m.

Porter's team will be coached by Lincoln Park's Mark Javens. Also on Porter's team will be Lincoln Park's Elijah Minnie, Ryan Skovranko and Chris Pipkin, Kiski School's Satchel Pierce, Mapletown's Dereck Riggleman, Avella's Brandon Miller, Union's Ben Young, Western Beaver's Nick Miller, Vincentian's Jim Kenna, Carmichaels' Brandon Lawless, Beaver County Christian's Jonathan Knab, Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic's Dom Robb, OLSH's Cameron Johnson and Cornell's Kevin Korzen.

The game will be the final of four contested at Geneva that day. The event will kick off at 2 p.m. when the girls Class AA/City League all-stars face the Class A/District 10 all-stars. At 4 p.m., the girls Class AAAA all-stars will play the Class AAA/District 10 all-stars. At 6 p.m., the boys Class AAA/District 10 all-stars will take on the Class AA all-stars.
