Written by Joe Koch on .

In what likely was an extremely satisfying victory, Oakland Catholic snapped Franklin Regional's unbeaten run in Class 2A Section 1 with a 9-7 home-field victory over the Panthers this past Monday.

The win improved the Eagles' overall record to 12-2, and they are 11-1 in Class 2A Section 1 following a 19-9 victory over Ellis in the regular-season finale this past Wednesday. The Eagles and the Panthers likely will share the regular-season title. In their respective first meetings with their regular-season section finale opponents, Oakland Catholic defeated Ellis, 20-10, while Franklin Regional rolled past Plum, 15-2. The two teams command a three-game lead over third-place Ellis.
