Alumni Update - Mark Patterson (Penn State - Behrend)

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's swimming and diving team captured their 11thstraight Allegheny MountainPatterson PSUB Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship in front of a home crowd on Saturday night in the Junker Pool.

The Lions, who held a substantial lead heading into the final day of competition, won four of the seven events tonight to remain out in front for the AMCC crown. Behrend finished 363 points ahead of second-place Alfred State with 763 points.

Pitt-Bradford was seven points off the Pioneers with 393 for third and Penn State Altoona came in fourth (270). Cabrini rounded out the five teams with 260 points.

Sophomore Mark Patterson and senior Nick Kost (Ashburn, VA/Stone Bridge) were tied for the highest-point winner of the meet for the Lions. Patterson, Kost, Nick Roth, and Ryan Siggins (Erie, PA/Iroquois) each won an individual event and led the Lions in the 400 free relay.

Patterson, a Norwin graduate, set a new pool record on his way to a first-place finish in the 200 backstroke to repeat as champion with a winning time of 1:50.94.

Girls Basketball: East Feature Athlete - Norwin’s Danielle McMaster

Grade: 12
Sport: Girls Basketball
Position: Guard

Background: Norwin will enter the WPIAL playoffs as a two-time defending champion. If the Knights are to win a third consecutive title, McMaster will likely be one of the catalysts. McMaster, a 5-foot-8 senior combo guard, leads the Knights in scoring with 12 points per game and is the only starter back from last season's team that won their second consecutive Class 4A title. She's also averaging five rebounds, three assists and four steals a game. The Knights are now in 6A and finished as the runner-up to Penn Hills in Section 2. The Knights will likely be given a No. 5 or 6 seed when the playoff pairings are announced Tuesday night.

Girls Soccer: Norwin's Kolano makes it official with Cincinnati signing

Lexie Kolano built quite the resume in her four years as a member of the Norwin girls soccer team, and now she is ready to start a new chapter. Kolano made it official on Thursday by signing with the University of Cincinnati.

The Bearcats finished tied for fourth last year in the American Athletic Conference.

 

Kolano was a four-time section champion, as well as three-time all-section, two-time all-WPIAL and WPIAL champion, and was named to the all-state team and Big 56 first-team her senior year.

 

Kolano holds the record at Norwin with 81 goals, and finished her career with 64 assists.

Alumni Update - Laura Buchanan (Grove City)

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Sophomore center Laura Buchanan, a Norwin graduate, scored a career-high 21 points and filledBuchanan GC the stat sheet with 10 rebounds, five blocks and four assists as the Grove City College women's basketball team used a 10-0 third-quarter run to pull away for a 75-57 victory over Chatham in Presidents' Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night inside the Grove City College Arena.


The Wolverines never trailed, but Chatham (10-9, 5-8 PAC) kept the game close throughout the first two-and-a-half quarters.

Alumni Update - Delaney Arbore (Allegheny)

GREENCASTLE, Ind.--  The Allegheny College women's basketball team was unable to overcome 11th-rankedArbore AC DePauw University as they fell on the road 99-54 Saturday (Feb. 4) in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play.

 

Delaney Arbore led all scorers with 10 points in the opening half. In addition to her point total, she grabbed a team-high five rebounds.


Arbore, a Norwin graduate, finished with a game-high 19 points with six three-pointers. She also blocked three shots and collected six rebounds.
