The Norwin track and field teams posted strong performances at the Westmoreland County Coaches Association championships last Saturday.
The girls team took second place with 79.50, just behind Hempfield (103.50). The boys team grabbed third place behind Hempfield and Franklin Regional.
Jessica Kolesar started the rally, taking first place in the long jump. She went on to grab second place in the 200-meter dash and third in the triple jump. Kolesar also assisted the gold-medal 400-meter relay team of Rachel Milke, Emily Brozeski and Kayla Zinger. Kolesar's efforts earned her the honors of combined MVP.
The Knights also had a slew of third-place finishes from Kelly Giles (1,600-meter run), Courtney Kosanovic (3,200-meter run) and Milke (300 hurdles).
For the boys, Nick Coleman won the 400-meter run and was part of the silver medal 1,600-meter relay team of Josh Coleman, Gianni Rizzo and Logan Huss.
Matt O'Neill grabbed second place in the 1,600 and fourth in the 3,200.
