There isn’t much that Norwin’s Sam Wexell hasn’t accomplished in her high school career. The scary part is she still has another year to accomplish more.
Wexell will be able to enter her senior season with a clear mind towards her goals after committing to Ohio University on March 9. Wexell also had offers from Duquesne University and Valparaiso University in Indiana.
The three-year starter for the Knights has a 53-5-2 career record. She is also in reach of the career shutouts record in the state and WPIAL. With 37, Wexell is 21 shy of the state record and 19 from the WPIAL record.
The two-time WPIAL champion hasn’t lost to a WPIAL opponent in the regular season in the past two years and has never lost a section game in three years.
Wexell was named to the all-WPIAL team and first-team Big 56 all-section team last year. She also holds the school record set in 2015 with a 0.33 goals against average.
On the national stage, Wexell is also a two-time US Cup National Champion for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds Development Academy team.
