Section 1 teams can't stop North Allegheny hockey team this time

North Allegheny had lost to a team from Class AAA Section 1 in the Penguins Cup quarterfinals in each of the previous four years.

So it was fitting that the Tigers beat the Class AAA Section 1 third-place, second-place and first-place finishers in succession to win their first Penguins Cup since 2007.  

“It was great coming up and beating Canon-Mac, then Bethel and then Peters, all three of whom are big rivals throughout the season and great teams,” senior forward Joe Griffin said. “We just played phenomenal.”
