North Allegheny defends home court to win boys' basketball tournament

The North Allegheny boys’ basketball continued what has been a terrific start to the season by winning the North Allegheny tournament last Friday.

The Tigers (9-0), who are one of eight unbeaten teams in the WPIAL, defeated Peters Township, 71-35, in the championship game. Tournament MVP Sean Hennigan, a senior guard, led North Allegheny with 11 points. The Tigers raced to a 23-7 lead after one quarter and led by 20 points at halftime.

A night earlier, Hennigan scored 23 points to help the Class AAAA No. 4 Tigers top North Catholic, 82.56.

North Allegheny plays at Butler (4-5) on Friday and will then will have a pair of major tests next week when the Tigers host Hampton (9-0) and New Castle (9-0).
