Girls' Swimming: South Feature Athlete - Mt. Lebanon's Meghan Schillken

Written by Nick Tolomeo on .

Name: Meghan Schilken
School: Mt. Lebanon
Grade: Junior
Sport: Swimming

Background info: Last season as a sophomore Schilken won WPIAL silver in the 100 backstroke and was part of a fourth-place 400 freestyle relay. A lot more can be expected out of Schilken this year as the Mt. Lebanon junior has dedicated more time to swimming after quitting volleyball.

This season: Schilken is one of the best juniors in the WPIAL. She was a part of two record-breaking pool relays at a recent dual meet at Upper St. Clair along with winning the 50 and 100 freestyle individually. Her specialty is the backstroke and sprint freestyle.

Coach Tom Donati: “She gave up her volleyball career to be a fulltime swimmer. I know this was a very big change for her. She really it showed it last night when she walked into that pool at Upper St. Clair. I am very lucky she is a junior and not a senior.”
