Section 4-AAA just got that much harder. Moon rejoins Class AAA after a two-year stint in Class AA and the Tigers joined Peters Township and Canon-McMillan in what is arguably the toughest section in the WPIAL. The Tigers and Indians both won PIAA titles two seasons ago in their respective classifications.
"I think we are ready to go back up," Moon coach Bill Pfeifer said. "The older kids were there before. I think they are ready for it. The kids are excited about being back up and having a game every night, having Peters and Can-Mac is nice. Before we could take off two weeks and not see anyone tough. Now they are going to be pushed."
Moon shared the Section 5-AA title with Quaker Valley last season while Peters Township won the section with a 9-0-1 record ahead of Canon-McMillan (6-2-2) and Upper St. Clair (5-3-2) who is no longer in the section. Chartiers Valley (5-4-1) missed the playoffs by a half game.
"I think Peters and Canon-McMillan are the teams to beat, they have been there," Pfeifer said. "It may take us a while to get our feet wet again. We will be in a battle every night, we will be ready to go. Hopefully we will be there in the end."
