Girls' Diving: West Feature Athlete - Moon's Heather Lonkert

Last season: Last year, in her first time competing in the WPIAL diving championships, Heather Lonkert took home the bronze medal in the WPIAL Class AAA girls’ 1 meter diving competition. Lonkert scored a 260.00 in her preliminary dives and then totaled a 398.90 to place her third and earn Moon 16 team points. Lonkert finished behind Pine-Richland’s Lauren Lamendola (431.65) and Bethel Park’s Ashley Sams (415.50).

This season: Lonkert is once again headed to the WPIAL diving championships. She is one big name in a talented field that includes Sams, Chartiers Valley’s Maria Lohman and North Allegheny’s Julia Vespoli and Carrie Bookheimer. Lonkert recently took first place in a dual meet against North Allegheny, scoring a 216.25 to outpoint North Allegheny’s Chloe Ghirardi (138.45) and Baela Savioz (136.10).
