Moon hockey team clinches playoff spot

Written by Ryan Riordan on .

The Moon hockey team may have fallen to Erie Cathedral Prep Monday, but two wins last week clinched a spot in the Class AA Penguins Cup for the Tigers.

Moon beat North Hills 5-4 last Thursday in a battle for the top spot in Section 1. The Tigers then turned around and took down Franklin Regional, 10-2, Friday to clinch the playoff berth.

Austin Siebert scored three goals in the two wins and has four in his past three games. Trevor Handlovich has three goals over the same span.

The Tigers are now in the midst of an 11-day layoff before they retake the ice to battle North Hills again on Feb. 22.
