After Moon handed Bishop Canevin its only loss this season on Dec. 21, it seemed inconceivable the Tigers would be on the playoff bubble.
Moon was 6-2-1 at the time and leading Class AA Section 1. But the Tigers haven’t won since, going 0-3-1 over their past four games and now face a scenario where the playoffs aren’t a guarantee.
Moon is currently tied for the Section 1 lead with North Hills with 14 points. That total is good for eighth in Class AA.
Plum is in seventh with 15 points, while West Allegheny and Gateway are only two points behind with 12. Barring a rally from Kiski, four of the aforementioned five teams will make the playoffs.
Moon could go along way towards sewing up its spot by beating North Hills (7-7-0) tonight. It is the first of two meetings between the teams, the other coming on Feb. 22.
The Indians are also sliding, losing four of their last five games.
