Kehl shines for Montour boys' swimming team in losing effort

Written by Nick Tolomeo on .

Montour sophomore Jarod Kehl continues to show he is one of the premier distance freestylers in the WPIAL.

In a recent dual meet against Obama Academy that the Spartans lost, Kehl was a bright spot as usual. He won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.65 finishing ahead of arguably the City League’s top swimmer, Obama senior Erik Rauterkus (1:55.56). Kehl also defeated Rauterkus in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:57.61 versus Rauterkus’ 5:14.06.

Kehl put an exclamation point on the met by anchoring Montour’s 400 freestyle relay that took first.

Kehl qualified for the WPIAL championships last season in both distance freestyle events, the 200 and 500 freestyle.
