Lincoln Park will enter the new year with a 4-4 record but that shouldn’t put the rest of Section 1-A at ease. The Leopards have played a very aggressive exhibition schedule as they prepare to defend their WPIAL Class A Championship.
Lincoln Park has lost to a pair of Class AAAA teams with winning records – Pine-Richland and Shaler – along with Anchorage Christian at a tournament in Orlando, Florida and Quigley Catholic. At the recent C.J. Betters Tournament, Lincoln Park defeated Central Valley 63-45 before falling to Shaler 66-62.
The Leopards used balanced scoring in that tournament as Maverick Rowan scored 26 against Shaler and 15 against Central Valley. Also for Lincoln Park, Ryan Skovranko had 28, Antonio Kellum 26, and Nate Loedding 15 in the tournament.
The Leopards still have some challenging exhibition games on the schedule (Beaver Falls, Seneca Valley, East Liverpool, Ohio and Kennedy Catholic) but will play most of its remaining schedule in Section 1-A, starting with a home game against Cornell (2-6) on Friday.
