Knoch has not been a tennis powerhouse, but has certainly played against a plethora of them.
For the last few years the Knights were stuck in Class 3A and had to take on the likes of North Allegheny and Pine-Richland in sectional play. The school has never had a WPIAL singles or doubles champion and only had one player, Brandon Anandan in 2007, play in a championship match.
This year, however, Knoch dropped back down to Class 2A and has qualified for the team playoffs for the first time in more than a decade. For their reward, the Knights enter as the No. 12 seed and will take on playoff veteran South Park.
South Park has qualified for the postseason the last two years, but has not won a match.
