Titans rely on their explosive QB
Brad Everett's feature on West Mifflin quarterback Derrick Fulmore:"They call him "Dynamite."
He's West Mifflin senior quarterback Derrick Fulmore.
But even Fulmore isn't completely sure why his teammates gave him the nickname.
"I never asked," he said, laughing. "I just thought it was because I'm explosive."
Boom.
Fulmore, a West Mifflin resident, is the less heralded, other half of the Titans' explosive one-two running punch, one that has knocked out 10 opponents this season and has the Titans knocking on the door of reaching the WPIAL Class AAA championship game.
The No. 7 seed Titans (10-1) play No. 3 Central Valley (9-2) in a semifinal Friday at North Allegheny.
Jimmy Wheeler -- nicknamed "Wheels" -- has made a big name himself this fall as one of the WPIAL's top rushers, but Fulmore has played just as big a part in igniting the West Mifflin offense with his athleticism and decision-making abilities. Fulmore has rushed for 754 yards and 14 touchdowns, and has passed for another 726 yards and seven touchdowns."
