Carassanesi a hit for West Mifflin baseball team

Written by Brad Everett on .

It might be hard to spell his name, but it’s not difficult to see what Jimmy Carassanesi means to the West Mifflin baseball team.

Carassanesi’s impressive hitting statistics have played a major role in the Titans becoming one of the surprise teams of WPIAL Class AAA. The Titans are 7-2 overall and 3-2 in Section 3.

Heading into yesterday’s loss against Trinity, Carassanesi was the team’s second-leading hitter with a .450 average and was second in RBIs with eight.

A junior outfielder/pitcher, Carassanesi came up big with a two-run double in the tenth inning to give West Mifflin an 11-10 triumph against Montour last Friday.

Also standing out for the Titans have been senior outfielder/first baseman Everett Lesko, who leads the team in hitting (.560) and runs scored (13). Sophomore left-hander A.J. Olasz heads the pitching staff with a 2-0 record to go along with 3.50 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 18 innings. Olasz has also driven in a team-best nine runs.
