West Allegheny fooball team's season ends in Erie

Written by Sports Town on .

For three quarters, West Allegheny played evenly with highly rated Erie Cathedral Prep and the score was tied 13-13. In the fourth quarter, though, Prep’s pair of Michigan State recruits – quarterback Damon Terry and receiver Delton Williams – combined for a pair of touchdowns and the Ramblers are the team advancing.

Still, West Allegheny’s season will be remembered more for its 12 wins, strong defensive finish, and the WPIAL title than that final quarter. Until that quarter, it had been nine straight games that West Allegheny had not allowed more than one touchdown in a game.
The line was predominately seniors but West Allegheny will return a lot of players at the skill positions. Quarterback Andrew Koester was a sophomore as were running backs Chayse Dillon and Armand Dellovade. Tory Delmonico, who was the leading rusher until a knee injury, was a junior. The leading tackler in the WPIAL title game was sophomore Sean Orsini, followed by Dellovade.
