Alumni Update - Marguerite Sargent (Chatham)
Chatham University senior women's basketball player Marguerite Sargent, a Washington High School graduate, has been named a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Scholar-Athletes of the Month for June by the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
During the 2011-12 season Sargent, a Washington High School graduate, was named varsity basketball captain and was nominated as a Chatham Athlete of the Month. Sargent was named to the Chatham's Purple Reign All Tournament Team in 2011.
Sargent is a member of the Washington-Greene County Sports Hall of Fame.
Off the court, Sargent has earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing and is currentlyworking on her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. She holds a 3.90 GPA.
She has been named to the PAC Academic Honor Roll and is the secretary for the Sigma Tau Delta Honor Society. Sargent is also a member of the Blue Key Honor Society and the Chatham SAAC.
She serves as the publisher and editor of Lefty Blondie Press and is the editor of The Minor Bird, Chatham University’s Literary Magazine.
Each month, SAAC members at a PAC school nominate a student-athlete to highlight based on academic and athletic accomplishments. Honorees must be a varsity member in their respective sport(s) and in their junior or senior year. Scholar-Athletes of the Month must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and be actively involved on his or her campus community.
