Vincentian alum Held entering sophomore season at Davidson University
Four-year Vincentian first singles player Elise Held is about to embark on her second season at Division I Davidson College in Davidson, N.C. Held, a four-time PIAA tournament qualifier in either singles or doubles, appeared in eight matches her freshman season at Davidson.
A Butler native who graduated from Vincentian in 2010, her first collegiate win came March 13 against Katie Barry of Western Carolina, 6-0, 6-1, at the No. 5 position in a Southern Conference match.
The team's 2011-12 season gets underway Sept. 9-10 in the Davidson Fall Classic, the first of five events in the fall season.
