Veahman lifts Ambridge hockey team

Written by Ryan Riordan on .

Glenn Veahman hadn’t scored for Ambridge since the team’s opening game against Wheeling Central.

But Veahman factored in all of Ambridge’s goals Monday, lighting the lamp three times and adding an assist in a 4-1 win over Canon-McMillan.

The win evened Ambridge’s record at 3-3.
Veahman had seven goals and three assists on a veteran Quigley team last season that won the Open Division championship.

With the absence of any players from Quigley this season, the program has changed its name to Ambridge. The team also lost its top three scorers, Doug Simon, Nick Santiago and Troy Emig, who combined to score 216 points last season.

After scoring more than seven goals per game last season, Ambridge is scoring less than three goals on average through six games.

Veahman and Walter Riggs are tied for the team lead with five goals and seven points apiece.
