Trinity learning softball is a game of inches
Through three section games the young Trinity softball team is 1-2 in Section 2-AAA. They are just a few runs away from being 3-0 and in first place. The Hillers lost both section contests on the road and by one run. They fell 5-4 at Moon and 6-5 at West Allegheny.
Third-year coach Bill Loar has been relying on four freshmen starters this season including his pitcher, Toni Spossey.
The other freshman starters are second baseman Olivia Gray, outfielder Brooke Beck and third baseman Madison Holnack. Gray hit a crucial two-run single to help Trinity knockoff Chartiers Valley 5-3 for its first section win.
There is some senior leadership in crucial spots at the leadoff spot where shortstop Amber Loar bats and catcher Brittany Hott.
