Thomas Jefferson softball team a potential dark horse
A potential dark horse in the WPIAL Class AAA playoff field appears to be Thomas Jefferson.
There are not many teams seeded No. 11 who have a Division I pitching recruit but that is exactly what the Jaguars have in senior pitcher Alyssa Frankenfield. The Jaguars went 10-6 this season but they closed out the season on a hot streak, winning seven of eight after a disappointing 3-5 start.
Frankenfield makes Thomas Jefferson a definite WPIAL title contender.
"I know how good Thomas Jefferson is," Belle Vernon coach Tom Rodriguez said. "They beat me pretty good that second time. They have an excellent pitcher, Alyssa Frankenfield is tough. I look at TJ as a dark horse."
