Heinz Field not kind to Sto-Rox football team again
For the second straight year, Sto-Rox made it all the way to the WPIAL Class A Championship game at Heinz Field. For the second straight year, the Vikings ran into what has become the most dominant team in Pennsylvania high school history.
Clairton set that record with its 60th straight win Friday and the Bears hope to make it 63 before the start of the 2013 season. Commencement ceremonies in June, though, will be much more costly to the Bears than they will be to the Vikings, so Sto-Rox is already pointing to next season.
Junior quarterback Lenny Williams rushed for 103 yards against Clairton, passed for 106, and intercepted a pair of passes. He will enter the 2013 season as the 10th-leading passer in WPIAL history with 5,629 yards.
Also returning are Brendan Blair and Elisha Bonner, who both scored at Heinz Field.
