Sto-Rox football team back for an encore

Written by Sports Town on .

Last year, Sto-Rox saw its season end at Heinz Field in a loss to Clairton. This year, the Vikings face the same challenge in the same place if they want their season to continue.

The game carries a little more excitement than just another rematch, though, as Clairton is looking for its state record 60th straight win. Obviously, Sto-Rox would like nothing better than to stop that party and quarterback Lenny Williams will put that to a test.

Williams has passed for over 2100 yards and rushed for over 1000, accounting for 39 touchdowns. In the 34-20 semifinal win over North Catholic, Williams passed for 184 yards and rushed for 90.

The 20 points were the most the Vikings had allowed in five weeks but the offense remained solid. Sto-Rox has scored at least 25 points in each game and averages just under 29 points per game.

Ben Shackleford was the big receiving weapon against North Catholic with eight catches for 152 yards and will need to come up big to derail the Clairton express at Heinz Field. For the year, Shackleford has 49 catches for 864 yards.
