Sto-Rox football team peaking at right time

Written by Sports Town on .

In the offseason, the Sto-Rox underwent a transformation as Ron Butschle left as head coach and Dan Bradley took over. It didn’t change Sto-Rox’s winning ways, but it did take a little while for everything to fall in place.

In the first six games, the Vikings won five but allowed an average of over 22 points per game. Immediately after a 48-21 regular season win over Union, though, Sto-Rox flipped a switch and ran off three straight shutouts, including a 25-0 win over previously undefeated Rochester.

In the two playoff games, the Vikings have outscored opponents 73-15 and last week racked up 408 total yards against the same Union team, this time winning 33-8.

One constant throughout the season, though, has been junior quarterback Lenny Williams, who passed for two touchdowns and passed for two last Friday. For the season, he has passed for just under 2,000 yards and rushed for just less than 1,000.

He could easily surpass both milestones Friday when the Vikings will play North Catholic at Dormont Stadium. He needs 53 yards passing and four yards rushing to reach those marks.
