Sto-Rox softball team misses out on WPIAL final again
It was not as disappointing as last year’s stunning first-round exit, but the No. 2 seeded Sto-Rox Vikings once again did not reach the WPIAL Class A championship game, like many had expected.
The Vikings could not hold onto a 5-0 lead and eventually lost to No. 3 Carmichaels 6-5 in nine innings. It was the first loss of the season for Sto-Rox who can extend its postseason run by knocking off Vincentian on Tuesday in the Class A consolation game.
“We thought Carmichaels might get ten-runned the way Sto-Rox was just tattooing the ball,” said Chartiers-Houston coach Tricia Alderson who watched the game. “And then all of a sudden Carmichaels started scoring all these runs with two outs.”
