Sto-Rox softball team wins battle of unbeatens
At this time last season, Sto-Rox was stumbling into the WPIAL softball playoffs on a three-game losing streak. This year the Vikings are headed in on a 17-game winning streak.
Sto-Rox edged Seton-LaSalle 4-3 in the regular-season finale. The game pitting 16-0 Sto-Rox against Class AA Seton-LaSalle who was 14-0, lived up to the hype. The game went 10 innings before Aimee Miller came through with a walk-off RBI single.
Sto-Rox landed the No. 2 overall seed in the WPIAL Class A playoffs where it will face No. 15 Avella on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Fairhaven Park. Sto-Rox was in a similar position last year when it was stunned by No. 15 seed Fort Cherry.
