Slippery Rock football program lands Sto-Rox's Beverly and Geter

Sto-Rox running back Josh Beverly and cornerback Marzett Geter signed letters of intent to play college football at Slippery Rock.

Beverly rushed for 1,350 yards and 19 touchdowns last season.

“Josh is a lot like (Slippery Rock All-Pennsylvania State Athlete Conference-West running back) Akeem Satterfield in that he's a big back who has breakaway speed," Slippery Rock recruiting coordinator Jason Makrinos said. "He will also be extremely valuable as a third-down blocking back.”

Geter originally committed to Pitt last May but changed his plans once Panthers coach Todd Graham left for Arizona State and was replaced by Wisconsin offensive coordinator Paul Chryst. Geter was ranked as the 75th-best high school cornerback in the nation by Scout.com and second among Pennsylvania high school cornerbacks by Papreps.com.

Geter caught 31 passes for 531 yards and scored 15 touchdowns and 13 point after touchdowns last season.

"We are very happy to sign Marzett," Makrinos said. "He is a 3.5-star recruit, which makes him one of the top prospects in the nation, and he runs a 4.4 40-yard dash. He was a do-it-all player at Sto-Rox and will start out here as a cornerback and return specialist.”
