South Park hockey team surging behind Walker

Written by Ryan Riordan on .

South Park won just three times in 19 games last season, then started this season with a 12-5 loss to Kittanning and a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Westmont Hilltop.

But then the Eagles turned it around, winning their next three games to equal last season’s win total.

One of the main reasons for the surge is forward Billy Walker.

Walker has scored seven goals and added four assists in the Eagles’ last two games, both wins.

For the season, Walker has 10 goals and five assists. He has scored a goal in four of South Park’s five games.

Walker’s 10 goals lead the PIHL Class A, while his 15 points are tied for first with Kittanning’s Christian Miller.

Last season, Walker had four goals and 12 assists.

Tyler Gerhold has chipped in six goals and five assists, Cam Sabatini has four goals and five assists and Ryan DeDomonicis has three goals and five assists for the Eagles.

The Eagles next game will be Nov. 29 against defending Class A state champion Quaker Valley.
